Imagine your child swinging softly in a blanket or dancing with you around a maypole. Village provides a delightful environment unlike any other. Through a unique blend of multi-level activities that includes creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration, and a colorful literature component, your baby’s growth and development are stimulated and all of his/her senses engaged.
Kindermusik Village, for children newborn to 18 months, incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement. American Sign Language will also be introduced in each lesson. (Research shows that a non-signing one year old can speak one to two words, while a signing one year old has sixteen to twenty words and twenty to twenty-five signs.) High quality, professionally created class and At Home materials include Kindermusik Foundations of Learning, insights based on current research that educate parents about their baby's unique development.
The Village program is four semesters long, with eight curricula total. You may start at any point in the series. Refer to Schedule to see which semester is being offered currently. The classes include:
Fall - Zoom Buggy explores the many ways parent and baby can zoom! Experience the vroom of a rocket ship and the swoosh of canoe oars - all through a variety of instruments and songs. Dream Pillow invites parents to sing to their baby in their own style. Class activities can easily be woven into routines at home and include delightful ideas for lulling baby to sleep, as well as upbeat, age-appropriate exploration. Each semester incorporates two units of curricula, each including a home CD, literature book, instrument, art banners, and a cute diaper bag*
Spring - Hickory, Dickory, Tickle, and Bounce encourages baby’s language development through the rhythmic nature of childhood nursery rhymes. Using basic American Sign Language, this unit offers parents a new way to communicate with baby before she is ready to verbally talk. The Rhythm of My Day offers American Sign Language and is highlighted by the concept of a family’s daily rituals and routines. Songs and activities are designed to help baby and parent incorporate music into many of their regular routines. Each semester incorporates two units of curricula, each including a home CD, literature book, instrument, art banners, and a cute diaper bag.*
Fall - Do-Si-Do stimulates a wonderfully unique experience of rhythm and movement. Movement highlights include a Virginia Reel, combination Tango, Cha-Cha, and a “move-to-it” poem. Other activities range from chime ball play to instrument exploration. Feathers introduces Baby and Parent/Caregiver to a delightful range of songs, movement activities, object play and vocal play relating to our feathered friends. Both jazz and classical selections, a Yiddish folk song and Mother Goose rhymes set to music are just a few of the colorful and exciting pieces introduced in this curriculum. American Sign Language is also included. Each semester incorporates two units of curricula, each including a home CD, literature book, instrument, art banners, and a cute diaper bag*.
Spring - Cock-a-doodle-Moo explores a farm theme through music, motion, and multi-sensory activities. Baby will enjoy the movement of a “hayride”, and experience vocal play by using farm animal sounds. DewDrops takes baby into a colorful flower garden. Whether hammocking, dancing a jig, exploring a drum, singing a lullaby, or using a mirror in vocal play activities, baby and parent can celebrate the joys of music and their special relationship. Each semester incorporates two units of curricula, each including a home CD, literature book, instrument, art banners, and a cute diaper bag*.
