Imagine That! takes you and your child on a musical journey of discovery and exploration…a journey limited only by the power of imagination. Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, movement and literature to capture your child’s potential to learn and to encourage cognitive and literacy skills, creativity and individuality.
Kindermusik Imagine That! is designed for active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative 3- and 4-year-olds and encourages socialization, sharing, and participating in group activities. Singing becomes a focus for enhancing the preschooler's vocal development as her expressive language is just beginning to emerge. Parents are invited to participate in the last 10 minutes of the 45-minute class for Sharing Time.
The Imagine That! program is four semesters long, and you may start at any point in the series. Refer to Schedule to see which semester is being offered currently. The classes include:
Fall - Hello Weather, Let’s Play Together! explores sunshine, rain, snow, thunderstorms and more in this imaginative and delightful weather-related musical adventure. Whether creating storm sounds on a drum or throwing pretend snowballs, children and their families are encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy the world around them. Imagine That! Home Materials include two CD’s, two literature books, a pretend play set, a family activity book, and two instruments (ankle bells and a rain shaker), all in a Kindermusik back pack.*
Spring - Cities! Busy Places, Friendly Faces transports the child into a Kindermusik city, where ordinary sounds and sights on the street make a musical ensemble. People shuffle their feet to a 4/4 beat. Street musicians serenade and sing. Clock towers boom, bellow, and ring. Using Kindermusik’s visual tools and home activities, children will transform the classroom, build a city out of handcrafted ‘buildings’, and walk down the sidewalks made of masking tape and freezer paper. Imagine That! Home Materials include two CD’s, two literature books, a family activity book, listening and matching card games, and an instrument (resonator bars) all in a Kindermusik back pack.*
Fall - See What I Saw takes the child on an imaginary trip to Grasshopper Park where they sail down the slide and then recreate the sound of that experience with a looong vocal glissando. Recreating this experience at home is a snap with a park play set complete with trees, grass, a fence, a lake, two children, a sailboat and more. Home Materials include two CD’s, two literature books, a family activity book, park play set, a slide whistle and lummi sticks, all in a Kindermusik back pack.*
Spring - Toys I Make, Trips I Take leads the child on a magical journey into a remarkable Toy Shop filled with boats, trains, jacks-in-the-box, and many other toys that bring a glimmer into a child’s eyes. While the excitement may begin in the toy shop, it may end on a tropical island. Imagine that! Home Materials include two CD’s, two literature books, a family activity book, pretend play set and a drum, all in a Kindermusik back pack.*
*New students are provided with one back pack, to be reused with each Imagine That! semester.
